NEW MUSIC FEATURE FRIDAYS - Marcus Devine and Angela Davis Featured.

This week's Friday feature considers himself as the “true essence of R&B music." I would like my audience to make that judgment. As a producer he has worked with some major artists in the industry. He has made a mark where people should know his name.
As the owner of the DAFURNANCE MUSIC GROUP, LLC., his current project GWENATION, will be releasing her new single "Ain't Got A Chance," coming May 6, 2014. He is...MARCUS DEVINE Daheatmizer but I can say "A Devine sound of R&B/Hip-Hop" putting it down with "GROUND BALL" FEAT. MR. BANKS Read more of Marcus Devine: Facebook / Youtube
So this week I was blessed with a second "New Music Friday Feature," ANGELA LYNN DAVIS. As the nominee and winner of the 2013 Detroit Black Music Award Female R&B Singer of the Year, she was chosen by those who know her and love to hear the pure sound of her voice. Angela's first debut album was released in 2012 "Flying High," which is a mixture of R&B, Jazz, and Soul.
"Angela has sung alongside some great vocalists like Alexander O'Neal, Cherrelle, Penny Wells, Misty Love, Howard Hewitt, and SoulSinger J Tait. She has performed with noted musicians like Detroit Hall of Fame saxophonist, Duane Parham, and legendary Detroit keyboardist, Al McKenzie." So here's Angela performing live at her CD release party. The Interview of all Musicians

"how did you get started
who inspires you?
what are you listening to right now?
what do you have going on in the near future?
if they have an album what is the name
what inspired the name?"

For the last five years, the dbma is a big achievement for all artists of Detroit.
I am hoping to hear from many more artists the next year to come.
I find it everyone's number one question who inspires you in this music
business? I'm hoping to find someone to give me an answer that they inspire
themselves, if you can play the music and create the play why not be the
one to inspire yourself. God given us all something to inspire ourselves within
each and every one of us. Sometimes there are ups and downs that we come
through and fight our way to creating something that we love. You can hear
one note that can lead to many or two...*laughing* and then a story is created.

So they asked what's your name or the name of your band, without that, how
would they know who you are...but really who are you? What facets of the
music brings the artist out of you? Some say its's the music background from which they have
started, everyone started from some where. What drove you to become the musician
you are today? It would be good know "the sound of music" from which began within you, some I believe
are born with it and from within,  it comes out. It then become a natural rhythm that most can relate and then there are some we couldn't have the clueless idea of what a person is talking about. But it can be the inspiration, or something you heard in your pass that can also lead to creative musically. That brings me to a great inspiration I recently received and their name "Old House New Door."  He sings giving inspiration to others base on what he have experienced. Which most musicians have done. They are a new band out of Detroit. And I hope to be presenting them to world as their Manager soon. It is not to make people feel jealous but to show what I can do for those that can believe in me. If you never believe in something other than yourself, how would you know. I have recently come across people who have inspire to continue all because they believe in me and it's not that they say those words "I believe in you", they actually show it.

So keep the inspiration, keep the music alive. It's not about how many awards you win or how many pats on the back or the "Great Job" compliment...BELIEVE IN YOURSELF.  And soon everyone else will. And the #1 one thing is to never over do it! That can kill the belief in you.

The Detroit Black Music Awards - A Huge Success!

It was a great honor to be among some of the greatest voices and musical talents of Detroit yesterday. Viewing the show and seeking out those who were winners of this year 2013 was exciting. There were performers of those that struck such joy and excitement throughout the audience. But as I saw it was a huge success with a larger crowd from the year before. And a little disappointing, those that were invited and/or came to except their awards did not stay throughout the whole event. I would love to write of nothing but the good of it all, but there's always something to see to upset you and wish people could be more respectable. If you're not able to stay for the whole event, have someone except the award for you and send your thank you(s) as would any respectable person would do. This is event is made to show the support and appreciation to the Musicians of Detroit.  Although it was a huge success I am hoping to see this event grow larger than this year and the year before. I would love to see those that want to be acknowledged or noticed by the Detroit Black Music Awards to come support this event. To be noticed is to get noticed and to get noticed you need to show your support. To be nominated will take the support of those in the music industry and to be a winner will be of those who support you for what you do.

For the new artist who took home the 2013 R&B Male Artist of the Year Award - Pierre Anthony, a voice to be heard. Congratulations!

And let's say YES! Brandon Williams took home the 2013 Drummer of the Year Award, Congratulations Brandon!

And Congratulations to all the nominees and winners of the 2013 Detroit Black Music Awards!
